What Survives:
Dimension, Decoherence
and the Birth of Spacetime

In the IIP-VGF framework cosmic acceleration appears as a natural consequence of the same principle that governs all emergence in the framework : survival under iteration. Only a spacetime closure that is sufficiently stable to persist, yet sufficiently flexible to accommodate nested structures, can support long-lived energy distributions, particles, chemistry, galaxies, and observers. A universe with no baseline stabilisation would be marginal and fragile; one with excessive stabilisation would suppress structure before it could form. The observed acceleration therefore reflects neither fine-tuning nor design, but selection by persistence: spacetime has settled into a regime that survives its own coarse-graining while remaining hospitable to higher-order closures.
Cosmic acceleration is thus not an anomaly to be explained away, but the large-scale signature that spacetime itself satisfies the conditions required for the world to be as we find it — because only such a world can endure.
In other words, cosmic acceleration as we find it is not evidence for something extra in the universe; it is evidence that spacetime itself has survived.
