Conclusion
The IIP-VGF framework provides a way of understanding evolution and intelligence that goes deeper than brains, genes, or even species. In the IIP–VGF framework, intelligence is treated not as a thing that suddenly appears inside organisms, but as an ongoing process that unfolds through time, shaping both the inner coherence of living systems and the external environments they inhabit.
Rather than viewing intelligence as something sealed within minds and brains, this approach describes it as a relational activity: a generative movement in which internal organisation and external conditions co-evolve together. The excerpt that follows introduces this idea by describing the evolution of intelligence as a functor—an ongoing transformation that links what intelligence is internally with the functional world it brings forth and responds to.
